Food can be useful, but a dog that only cooperates for a treat is not learning to live with you. Let's talk about motivation, bond and emotions.

The problem with depending on food
- The dog learns to do things in exchange for something.
- In highly emotional moments, food stops working.
- It can create over-excitement around the treat.
- It covers the underlying emotion instead of working on it.
Educating through the bond
- Understand the emotion.
- Meet needs: rest, sniffing, exercise, food.
- Calm, clear communication.
- Be their reference because you understand them.
A dog who feels safe cooperates naturally.
